The Hidden Costs of Being Manicured

While we don’t offer manicures and pedicures at Spruce Body Lab- I thought that this article from the Globe and Mail would be of interest to many of our clients, Twitter followers and Facebook friends.

The article highlights the health risks involved to many manicure and pedicure salon workers and also gets into the chemical ingredients in polishes, old and new (shellac), which impact not only the workers, but those of us getting regular polish applications.

It’s important to bring these issues to light, and perhaps think twice about where we get our nails done- taking more into consideration than price and look at the working conditions of the people that are caring for us.

I haven’t done any research into the reduced chemical polishes that are out there. Do you have a favorite? Share it here.

While we may not offer manicures and pedicures- did you know that we have a Hand Relief treatment which can be added onto a facial? This treatment includes exfoliation, massage, application of a serum and mask followed by a unique product penetrating parrafin treatment.

And no purse is complete without hand cream. Here’s a favorite product for keeping hands soft and young: Dermalogica Multivitamin Hand and Nail Treatment which just so happens to help strengthen nails too!
