The Holiday season is a time for everyone to reflect on all of the good that we have in our lives and to think of those in our community that need a little extra help.

For those looking to give what they can this year, but unsure of where to start, here is a list of some of the local charities that are close to our hearts here at Spruce.

Dress For Success

dress for success - vancouver charityDress For Success is a wonderful organization that provides disadvantaged women with professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help them succeed in work and life. An international not-for-profit organization, Dress For Success has been helping women since 1997 with proper clothing and training to get and maintain a job.

A Loving Spoonful

a loving spoonful - vancouver charitySince 1994 A Loving Spoonful has been delivering hot meals to adults and children across Greater Vancouver. It was the first meal program in Canada to provide free meals for people living with HIV/AIDS. Today, A Loving Spoonful is still a volunteer-driven society that delivers free meals to over 250 clients of all ages.

The Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation and Centre

dr peter centre - vancouver charityThe Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds to support innovative health care at the Dr. Peter Centre in Metro Vancouver. The Centre offers hot meals two-times daily, as well as palliative care and short-term stabilization, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week for those living with HIV and AIDS. The Dr. Peter Centre has been a source of hope and support in the community for over 20 years, and rely on the help from volunteers and donors.

Vancouver Food Bank

From donations to educational programs, the Food Bank works with community partners to reach those in need. It offers a variety of ways to get involved from virtual food drives, gifts in kind, monthly giving, volunteering and event hosting.

Whether you are looking to donate clothing, food, or your time, we encourage you to give what you can to these wonderful charities this Holiday season. And if you are coming by for treatment or to pick up some gift cards, be sure to bring a non-perishable food donation. Until December 24th we will have a donation box at the spa for the Vancouver Food Bank. Bring in a donation and you’ll be entered to win a Full Physical Package.
