Hot Product This Month

The beach has been beckoning these days- and along with it comes the unforgiving bikini.

I have to say that after getting into a very regular exercise routine of pilates, yoga, running and bike riding, I was hoping that my problem areas would become less problematic. Not so I’m afraid.

I REALLY don’t want to have to sacrifice enjoying food and the occasional glass of wine in order to improve the appearance of my dimpled zones. Life is just too short! Besides which, I wouldn’t be able to keep that up for long, so I decided to give Pro-Derm’s Prodermafiline Body Cream a try.

Apparently after 6-8 weeks of daily use I should see an improvement. It will “help eliminate dimpling of the thighs and buttocks.” and “You will quickly see its firming effects on your whole body…”

It’s only been a week and while the dimpling is still there, I do notice an improvement in the firmness and texture of my skin. This is due to Pro-Derm’s high concentration of active ingredients. The company makes all of it’s products at pharmaceutical levels. Prodermalfiline contains 5% lactic acid (AHA) to smooth the skin texture, pure retinol (vitamin A) to stimulate the re-growth of skin cells for a firming effect and a concentration of 5% pure caffeine which accelerates the elimination of excess fats to fight cellulite.

So while I’m still a skeptic, and I don’t think that I’ll be rid of the cellulite entirely- thus far I’m pretty impressed with even the small improvement I’ve seen. The catch is that I will have to use the Prodermafiline continuously in order to reap the benefits, but that’s a small price to pay if you ask me. I don’t think twice about applying serums and masks to my face, how hard is it to put some attention and focus on other areas that need it?

Other simple tools that I’m planning to integrate into my routine are:

dry body brushing: using a soft natural bristle in a circular upward motion- dry body brushing is an excellent way to promote lymph drainage- our body detoxification power house

hydrotherapy showers: by turning the shower from hot to cold for about 30 seconds at the end of my morning shower- not only will I get an energy boost- but a boost to my metabolism, detoxification and circulation.

infrared sauna: an infrared sauna session once a week will help rid my body of excess metals and toxins and stimulate my metabolism- you can burn up to 600 calories in 30 minutes!

Here’s hoping that in 7 weeks the only dimples present will be on the cheeks located above my waistline! :)

Vancouver Spa: Halloween- Get Rid Of Wrinkles

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

It’s hard to believe that Halloween is upon us.  I’m already feeling sad that some of the trees have lost all their leaves. The vivid fall colors paired with the sounds of leaves crunching underfoot, makes the briskness in the autumn air more bearable.

I don’t personally have any plans for Halloween this year, just a nice dinner to celebrate the completion of mid-terms, so I will be out and about on the 31st previewing all the elaborate costumes.  We’re quite lucky in North America to have a day where adults get to dress up and pretend to be someone or something else for a few hours.

For those of us who are not dressing up, we still may want to put on a “new face” and scare off any wrinkles that have started to settle in.  If these ghastly furrows have out-worn their welcome, don’t worry, there are several options with which you can banish them.

  1. Injectables This is undoubtedly the quickest and easiest method to create a more youthful appearance. A few tiny injections of either botox or a hyaluronic acid-based filler can imbue youthfulness to your appearance for four to twelve months. And if you feel like having a plumper pout while you’re at it- why not?
  2. Cosmetic Acupuncture This approach to age prevention works beyond the instant gratification of  and helps to activate your body’s natural age-fighting battalion.  Minute needles are place along expression lines and areas of concern to bring blood flow and nourishment to the skin, and connective tissues. The tiny wounds inflicted by the needles encourages the formation of collagen- all the while, you’re stimulating points corresponding to the organs of your body. Ostensibly, you’re doing your whole body a favor with this treatment.
  3. Photorejuvenation If the leopard look is not a part of your plan this Halloween and you’re looking to loose your spots, this treatment is for you. The side benefit to shedding those hyperpigmented cells is improved firmness and smoothing of fine lines.
  4. Skin Tightening This treatment is like boot camp for your skin. Infrared light builds heat in the dermal tissues of the skin, causing new collagen to be formed. The result, smoothing out of wrinkles, expression lines and facial contours without the fright-factor of a face lift.

Don’t let aging process scare you into submission- with these weapons at you’re disposal, this Halloween will have more of a Casper the Friendly Ghost feel, than that of a terrifying tribulation.
